Tasted 03/09/2012 Red fruit jam, candied black cherry, raspberry, spicy notes of clove and green pepper, licorice, china and balsamic notes. In the mouth it is quite warm, full bodied, very soft and fresh, tasty, light tannins. Return to taste the red fruits and spices, not very long the final notes of fruity and tasty.

This is a budget Amarone. It’s a really interesting Valpolicella wine from the in the Veneto region in Northern Italy. It’s made through a cool process of introducing a second fermentation by pouring the over dried Amarone grape skins. This gives it more heft and a bigger aroma. Look: Warm and lush, deep red like a bruise on Sophia Loren’s thigh. Smell: Black cherries drying on a rustic wood bench. Taste: The swagger of Sylvester Stallone in Rocky I with bold cherry and a hint of tobacco. The affable beginning gave way to moody tawny port with a mid-length spicy finish. This is my amateur rating: smooth, floral (possibly not sure), fruity and small kick on finish. Pleasant wine, nice on its own.

Brolo di Campofiorin is a special selection of Masi’s famous Campofiorin. The production technique is Masi’s personal interpretation one that the company has developed over the past 40 years - of an ancient vinification system used in Valpolicella and known locally as refermentation. The wine produced with Corvina, with a small presence of Rondinella, referments today on a certain percentage of slightly dryed Corvina grape. This dryed Corvina, having concentrated sugars, aromas and glycerin, provokes an immediate second alcoholic fermentation which lasts 12-15 days. Then this fermentation goes on enriching the wine in alcohol, in colour and in tannins, as well as giving it new and more complex aromas and flavours. After the malolactic fermentation the wine is aged in small fusti Veronesi of Allier and Slavonian oak for 2/3 years. The wine rests in the bottle for minimum 6 months before release. Brolo di Campofiorin, like Campofiorin, carries the Ripasso trademark, which has been registered by Masi.

Weingut: Masi AgricolaRegion:    VenetienRebsorten: 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, 5% MolinaraInhalt: 0,75 LiterAlkoholgehalt:    13,25 Vol.%Säuregehalt: 5 g/LiterRestsüße: 2,25 g/LiterFassreife: in Barriques gereift (18 Monate)Empfohlene Serviertemperatur: 16-18°C Suche nach Rebsorten > Rote Rebsorten > Rondinella
