What to Expect

Corvina is one of the classic grapes of the Veneto region of Italy. It is usually the predominant grape in the blends used for Bardolino and Valpolicella. Corvina tends to produce lightly-colored wines with high acidity and moderate tannins featuring flavors that recall dark berries with hints of bitter almond. Corvina's thick skins lends the grape to rasining without rot. This technique is used to produce richer and dessert styled wines such as Amarone and Recioto.

Winemakers Notes

Wine making Amarone is the product of the ancient wine making method called
"appassimento" (drying of the grapes). At the end of September or
beginning of October the best clusters are laid on bamboo racks in the

Reviews

Campolongo di Torbe is the most elegant of Masi's Amarone crus. It is characterized by a rounded almondy flavour (called mandorlato) and by great intensity and balance. Ideal drunk on its own after dinner, it also goes very well with red meats, game, quail and other flavourful dishes. It is excellent with matured cheeses like parmesan and pecorino. The vein of softness shown in some years makes this wine a good match with gorgonzola. Recommended drinking temperature 18° C (64 degrees F). Alcohol: 15.77 % by volume

True. This is one of the most impressive Amarones I have ever tried! I'm familiar with Allegrini's, Zenato's, all of MASI's, Tommasi's and Brunelli's, but this one is really the superlative in my book. This wine must be tried at least once in a life time as a declaration of excellence. Being a thorough wine enthusiast, I cannot find any weak points with this wine that is truly stupendous and magnificent!
