Masi Amarone Classico Riserva Costasera 2008
Deep ruby red color with violet tinges to the edges. Clean, very powerful and complex on the nose with good alcoholic backbone amid the sweet aromas of dried prunes and raisins. Soft and dry on the palate with typical baked cherry flavors mixed with hints of cocoa and cinnamon. Attractively long finishing and full-bodied with soft tannins.
The Boscaini family have been the owners of the Masi vineyards for six generations. Sandro Boscaini is the company president. The other members of the family involved are Sandro's children: Alessandra and Raffaele, and his brothers: Bruno who looks after the production processes, and Mario who is a sleeping partner in the company.
This is our most favourite wine ever. It is full bodied and spicy, yet smooth. It has a higher specific gravity, usually above 15%, but due to the way it is made this should be no surprise. I would always recommend this wine.

Dunkles, dichtes Rubinrot. In der Nase herrlich intensiv duftend nach reifen Pflaumen, Fruchtkompott, süssen, warmen Gewürznoten, komplex und finessenreich. Im Gaumen saftig, vielschichtig und dicht, wiederum feine, reife Aromatik, Erinnerungen an den Rumtopf werden wach. Eine Komposition süss-reifer Früchte mit einer sehr harmonischen Tanninstruktur, begleitet von einer eleganten Säure und langem, aromatisch nachhaltigem Abgang.
Deep, almost impenetrable, ruby red, with violet colored edges. Fruits of the forest, especially blueberries, on the nose, but licorice and vanilla, too. Rich and full-bodied on the palate, but soft and velvety at the same time. Excellent balance between tannins and acidity.
This is a landmark Amarone that has often acted as the category's biggest ambassador abroad. It bursts open with aromas of dark berry, spice, leather and tobacco, and it is both generous and long-lasting on the palate
More vinous than most of its Amarone cousins, Masi’s Costasera is bright, plummy and zesty up front, then rich with toffee flavors and the fruitiness of coffee beans in a mocha java finish. The texture is smooth and elastic, a supple pleasure for a thick cut of aged beef.
A modest version, framed by tangy acidity and light tannins. The earth and smoke elements mix with dried sour cherry and pomegranate notes. Drink now through 2018.
