Masi Amarone Classico Riserva Costasera 2007
The Boscaini family have been the owners of the Masi vineyards for six generations. Sandro Boscaini is the company president. The other members of the family involved are Sandro's children: Alessandra and Raffaele, and his brothers: Bruno who looks after the production processes, and Mario who is a sleeping partner in the company.
Editorial Reviews for Masi Amarone Classico Riserva Costasera
Fine on the nose with well delineated aromas of minerals and dark fruit that is peppery with grilled meat notes. Polished and rich on the palate but with good clarity to the soft dried red fruit, red cherry flavors. The palate is firm with soft tannins, but this remains very easy to drink turning fairly complex on the back end with mineral driven flavors that lead to a clean, long and slightly grippy finish. Show a nice interplay of red fruit and minerality. 89pts
Had it in Huntington Beach
This is our most favourite wine ever. It is full bodied and spicy, yet smooth. It has a higher specific gravity, usually above 15%, but due to the way it is made this should be no surprise. I would always recommend this wine.
Fantastic wine. Has a hint of smokiness to it. Very smooth, good balance. Perfect with lamb chops
Excellent wine. Smooth red.
Nice and tart with slight road tar overtones

Ripe dark fruit, nutmeg, clove and tobacco aromas lead the nose on this bold and balanced wine. The rich palate delivers black plum, raisin, cinnamon, black pepper and licorice supported by velvety tannins and fresh acidity. Combining elegance and power, it boasts wonderful depth. Drink 2015–2025.
Masi is one of the historic wineries in the Veneto going back over 200 years. Family owned and run by the sixth generation of the Boscaini family. The sloping vineyards where the grapes are grown for this Amarone Classico Costasera face the sunset. With a longer day, vines that face Lake Garda bask in reflected light, receiving more sunlight, soft breezes and produce the best quality grapes. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 95 points and said "Ripe dark fruit, nutmeg, clove and tobacco aromas lead the nose on this bold and balanced wine. A classic interpretation, the 2010 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Costasera offers power and personality. The bouquet shows your standard Amarone aromas of sweet spice and overripe fruit. But Costasera adds class and finesse thanks to the slow way in which the wine evolves in the glass. The mouthfeel also treads with a delicate pace. Its silky texture never feels too heavy or overburdened.
Beautifully balanced and integrated, this offers sweet dried cherry and date fruit, as well as savory accents of loamy earth, herb and smoke. Fresh and focused, with a silky texture that carries a streak of minerality on the finish. Drink now through 2030. 40,000 cases made.
Deep, almost impenetrable, ruby red, with violet colored edges. Fruits of the forest, especially blueberries, on the nose, but licorice and vanilla, too. Rich and full-bodied on the palate, but soft and velvety at the same time. Excellent balance between tannins and acidity.
Rich and earthy, with a note of forest floor, this tobacco-laced version is firm and structured. The fine texture carries a core of plum compote, coffee, treacle, date and licorice. Offers a lasting finish of grilled herbs. Drink now through 2024.

This classic Amarone is made from mostly Corvina (70%) along with Rondinella , Oseleta, and Molinara grapes in the vineyards of the Valpolicella Classica area. This wine is unique for the presence of ancient Oseleta grapes, the longer drying of grapes (over 120 days) and prolonged aging in wood.
