Masfleurey Cotes de Provence Cuvee Selectionnee 2016

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine from a shop in London [www.nicolas.com] for £10. The Cotes de Provence is a large appellation created in 1977 covering 85 communes ranging from the coast up to the foothills of the Alps. Most production like my bottle is rose.Much of it comes in a distinctive bottle shape called a 'skittle' [similar shape to a coca-cola bottle] My bottle comes from Aime Roquesante and I have not been able to find out much about them as their website is not very informative although the shop website says that my wine is a blend of carignan, grenache, mouverde and syrah but does not say in what proportions.I started my bottle last night with some cold chicken salad. It is a dry wine but not bone-dry.There is plenty of a cranberry, strawberry and apricot style fruit but it is not particularly acidic. There are several flavours at once and it went well with the salad

I have not been able to find out much detail on this producer but I do know that some of their wines use the brand name 'Masfleurey' and they are part of the Castel group [www.groupe-castel.com ]
