Rustic and medicinal in its initial scents, this is a red-fruited wine, as honest as the tannin is long. Oak gives it a caramelized-onion sweetness to balance with beef stew.
The 2000 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Marina Cvetic confirms the promise of this vintage in its deep ruby color, jammy plum and wild cherry fruit nose, and rich, caramel and vanilla laced flavors, and its broad, deep, well sustained finish. Drink: 2005-2018. And who is Marina Cvetic? Madame Masciarelli, an important force in the firm in her own right.
Warm, toasty aromas give way to flavors of savory cherries and herbs. Soft and delicious!
The 2005 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a simple, straightforward wine with good red fruit prefect for casual, informal drinking. At $10 a bottle it is virtually impossible to beat for value.
Spicy, fruity and nicely rounded, this wine boasts great flavor intensity without the sharp points sometimes associated with Montepulciano. It's an easy, approachable wine perfect for everyday dining with solid tannins and good length.
The 2007 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is hard to beat for the money. Red cherries, tobacco and licorice are some of the nuances that emerge from this mid-weight, vinous red. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2012.
A tight and firm wine, with coffee, tobacco and light raisin character. Medium-bodeid, with good fruit, but slightly hard on the finish.
Clarity: Clear. Color: Deep ruby red. Bouquet: Intense - complex - fine. Flavor: Red berries, cherry, red currants, violets, hint of tobacco.
