Mas la Mola Priorat 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

This 7 hectare property has been in the Ferrando family for 150 years, but today winemaking and viticulture are carried out by Jordi Masdeu, a young Spaniard who had spent time selling wine in London, and Alessandro Marchesan, the sommelier at Zuma. Together they share the same passion for old Garnacha and Cariñena vines which led them to the Licorella soils of Priorat where they aim to produce wines with the unique personality of the region. This complex blend is dark ruby in colour with aromas of black cherries, blueberries and a hint of spice and smoky minerality. Ripe, concentrated and elegant on the palate with plenty of black cherries and dark berry fruit. Medium to full bodied, the structure offers grippy tannins, mouth-watering acidity and a long, fruit driven finish.

Jordi Masdeu Catala and Alessandro Marchesan have continued that family tradition to produce wines that are indicative of classic Priorat styles. The 7 hectare property grows old vine Garnacha, Carinena, Garnacha Blanca and Macabeo, produced in the boutique winery that has been operating for more than 150 years.
