60% Grenache, 25% Carignan, 5% Merlot, 5% Cab Sauv, 5% Syrah. This wine is rocking! I love it.

Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

Big rubber band nose. Big body, tannic, acidic. Bright red fruits, food wine. Grapey. Lightly velvety. $40

Absolutely love this deep, rich, highly concentrated red from Priorat. This is a grenache blend and the "second" label from Mas Doix. Highly recommended!

Truly stunning in its multidimensional personality, this modern Priorat confirms the outstanding potential of this small denomination in Catalonia. Here, blended wines are the norm, and the 2004 Salanques combines Grenache(60%), Carignan(25%), Merlot(10%) and Syrah(5%) for a wine that is opaque to the eye, intoxicatingly perfumed and seductively textured. A remarkable achievement well worth it's "94" rating from America's most demanding critic.

The 2004 Salanques is the second wine of Mas Doix made from barrels not making the cut for Costers de Vinas Viejas. It is 65% Garnacha, 20% Carinena, and equal parts Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon aged 14 months in French oak. Inky purple, the wine has a lovely perfume of mineral, truffle, pencil lead, kirsch, black currant, and blueberry. Ripe and full-bodied, the wine has a velvety texture, superb depth, and gobs of flavors. Drink this pleasure-packed wine over the next 8-10 years.

Ruby-red. Vivid aromas of raspberry, strawberry, red licorice and exotic baking spices. Explosive red berry flavors are suave, sexy and almost sweet, but there's just enough acidity and fine tannins to ensure focus and lift. The fruit builds on the rich finish, which features a liqueur-like strawberry quality that manages to retain freshness. Captivating and flat-out delicious.

The Salanques vineyard is at an elevation of 350 feet and is planted to Garnacha and Cari¤ena. The soils here are extremely high in minerals, which lends itself to the structure of this wine. The blackberry fruit, dusty tannins, and a long finish make this wine unforgettable.
