Mas de Daumas Gassac Rouge 1998

Rating: 17/20 - As reviewed by Jancis Robinson 80% Cabernet. Very deep dark bluish crimson and concentrated nose. Animal and very very ripe red fruits on the nose. Thick and admirably ripe tannins. Full and arresting. Still very young, but better and more sophisticated than the 1995. There are slight floral and vegetal notes although the palate ends very dry at the moment. Nuanced nose with hints of fireworks. Gentle tannins. The single most exciting vintage for the future.

Clear deep ruby in color; intensely complex nose; round, rich and fleshy palate with a long triumphant finish; vibrant and fruity in the early stages of the development, it is capable of maturing for half a century and then evoking the fragrant smell of wood-moss and truffles like a great vin de garde.

A hearty and Muscular red, with appealing leather, red plum, berry and beefy flavors, and dust mineral and roasted notes on the tannic finish.
