Superripe yet well-structured and graceful, showing aromas of blackberry jam and toasty vanilla, with succulent huckleberry and smoky licorice flavors that finish with briary, zesty tannins. Drink now through 2012.
Deep ruby/red. Exotically perfumed, slightly smoky bouquet of raspberry, blueberry, sandalwood, and cracked pepper. The palate offers nervier red fruits, along with surprisingly graceful floral qualities and silky texture. There's something almost pinot-like (!) about this today. The finish repeats the fresh raspberry note and lingers impressively.
The dark ruby/purple-tinged 2007 Zinfandel Giuseppe & Luisa offers sweet aromas of plums, roasted meats, pepper, kirsch, roasted herbs, and figs. This deep, dense, full-bodied effort is a singular, hedonistic style of Zinfandel that should provide immense pleasure over the next 5-6 years.
A luscious fruit bomb, showing jammy, vibrant black plum and smoky meat aromas and soft, rich mocha cherry flavors, with fresh pepper and toasty oak. Drink now through 2011.
Medium red. Powerfully scented bouquet of raspberry, cherry and blueberry, complicated by gingerbread, black tea and espresso. Juicy, densely packed red and dark berry flavors are enlivened by zesty acidity, which leavens the sheer sweetness of the fruit. Admirably fresh and balanced for such a big, deep, dense and full-flavored wine. Leaves a strong impression of candied dark berry flavors in its wake. This would be great with smoked brisket.
The 2006 Zinfandel Giuseppe & Luisa (730 cases) is a full-throttle Zin that tips the scales at 16.4% alcohol. Briery, roasted herb, kirsch, coffee bean, mincemeat, pepper, and a strawberry-like note emerge from this complex wine that tastes like a big southern Rhone. It should drink nicely for 5-7 years.
