Martín Códax Tempranillo Rioja Ergo 2010

The label mentions "fruit forward" and its dead on... lots of plum and berry flavor, with a hint of spice, much juicier than what I normally expect from a rioja.... but in a good, pleasing way. Very enjoyable wine and a solid value.

This is my ideal way to spend less than $10 on a red, and beats out almost anything under $15 as well. Drinkable and delicious in almost any setting, especially in the summer when many of the other reds are a bit too heavy. Great balance with almost grenache-like juiciness, but a soft leather smell to complement. Of the 15-20 different Tempranillos I have tried, this is one of only two that stand head and shoulders above the rest - the other being a $30 Artesa bottle.

Good value wine. Nice balance with good fruit notes. Definitely a medium to light body wine. Good alone and with some seasoned chicken. Good smooth finish with hints of spices. Nice to have around for guests and just for something to have just because

I love this Martin Codax Rioja...I tried one bottle and went back and bought 6 more!! I ususally drink white wine, but I love this one!!

Delicious! Smells of tar and blueberry giving this wine a sweet and soury hint. Initial taste is somewhat sour as well almost like the first bite of a plum. A soft finish of floral variety close to rose petals. Also hint's of strawberry's still in the wet ground of the field.
