Martín Códax Tempranillo Rioja Ergo 2006
Martín Códax is a winery that was founded by a group of Spanish winemarkers in 1986. It is in the capital of the Salnés Valley, Cambados, in the Denomination of Origin "Rías Baixas" of Spain.
Delicious! Smells of tar and blueberry giving this wine a sweet and soury hint. Initial taste is somewhat sour as well almost like the first bite of a plum. A soft finish of floral variety close to rose petals. Also hint's of strawberry's still in the wet ground of the field.
Appearancel: Has an attractive straw-greenish yellow colour, with ripe lemon nunaces. Bright and slightly sparkling. Aroma: Stands out for its special intensity and elegance, its aroma reminiscent of damp, dewy fresh herbs with a perfume of semi-ripe apples. Palate: A fine sparkling sensation on the palate, with a complexity of tastes denoting the freshness of vegetation in the valley and the essence of the variety. Persistent, full-bodied and tasty... a classic.
Black cherry, mint, and chocolate aromas. Flavors are berry, cherry, gamey, and rich. Very nicely done at the under $15 SRP. Walks the line between new world fruit and old world restraint. Fantastic with roasted lamb.
color-yellow straw; nose-mineral & key lime; mouth-mineral and more citrus; finish - medium buy it share it
Nice bouquet of fresh berries. Tastes are of bright fruits. Really low oak. Suitable for casual fare.
Good value for 9.99 but didn't knock my socks off
This is a decent Albarino. Crisp with a good amount of citrus. I love the acid edge. Not bad for the price

Martin Códax has created this easy-drinking, fruit forward wine from Rioja. Made from 100% Tempranillo, this wine is the perfect match from everything from summer pasta salads to burgers.
Coming from 80-year-old vines grown on the hillsides of Bierzo in northeastern Spain, this wine sees only two months of oak and possesses many layers of flavor and complexity. We tasted black plum and cherry notes, hints of tobacco, and a touch of bittersweet chocolate.
