Juicy, lush nose of tropical and stone fruits. White peach, hint of lime, apricot and white flowers. Slightest grassy tone as well. The palate is shockingly unrelated, full of mineral tones. Unexpected given al the lush fruit on the nose. Very salinic and sharp on the palate. Very tight acid. It's inconsistent, so loses points for me. Slightly green asparagus finish.

This Martín Códax Albariño is a very pale gold color that sparkles a little in the light. On the nose it is sharp and clean with strong aromas of citrus and hints of fresh cut grass. At first taste it has a fantastic abundance of tastes from green grapes, granny smith apples, tropical fruits and cantaloupe. It effervesces a little on the tongue and ends with a fresh tingly finish, which I liked a lot. A do like clean fresh wines and this one is exactly that. A wonderful scrumptiously fun summer wine that pairs perfectly with spicy Mexican food. This is a super fun wine to bring to a summer garden party.

Firm and full-bodied, this muscular white delivers more structure than flavor now, but the concentration and balance are evident, and the wine should open with time. It has ripe notes of pear, melon and almond, austere but deep. Best from 1999 through 2002.

The more serious, richer, more mineral and complex 1997 Martin Codax is made from 100% Albariño, but it is longer in the mouth, with mineral, apricot, peach, and floral scents. This wine is elegant and rich, as well as beautifully precise and nicely textured.

Haunting bouquet of Anjou pear, tangerine, lilacs and banana. This wine is all silky finesse, with an underlying power and a slight mineral tone that allows it to pair well with shellfish.

From the Rias Baixas region of Spain, this Albarintilde;o is dedicated to Martin Codax, a 13th century Galacian troubadour whose music celebrated love and wine. Aromatic, crisp and dry in style, accented with a floral bouquet and a clean refreshing lemony acidity that will marry well with your favorite seafood dish. And by the way, Parker rated it 90 points.

Martin Codax was a 13th century Galician troubadour whose music celebrated love and wine. This wine is made using state of the art technology from centuries old Galician grape known as Albarintilde;o. Aromatic, crisp and dry in style, it is traditionally served with fresh seafood or shellfish harvested from the nearby Atlantic coast of Spain.

Codax really got it good in 2007. This is one of this co-oprsquo;s best-balanced, easy-to-like bottlings we can remember. The bouquet is clean as a whistle, with pear, apple and slate. Graceful on the palate, with citrus and green-apple flavors. A little lime carves shape into the long finish.

Winemaker's Notes:

Ergo is a contemporary expression of the classic Spanish grape, Tempranillo, with its vibrant red fruit aromas, juicy texture and lingering finish. Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 87 points by Wine Spectator and Robert Parker, who wrote: Even better is the dark ruby/plum-tinged 2010 Ergo Rioja, a blend of 86% Tempranillo and 14% Garnacha aged in tank and American oak. This delicious, fruit-forward Rioja exhibits plenty of berry fruit and new saddle leather characteristics intermixed with hints of tobacco leaf and licorice. Medium-bodied and fresh, it can be drunk over the next several years.
