Sweetly floral on the nose with excellent minerality, sea breezes, sunflower seeds and lime zest. Gentle citrus notes on the palate with a stony backbone, green apple and lemon fruit filling the center and a tart acidity towards the finish that plays nicely against a creamy nuttiness.

Flowery, pollen, peach, green plum, a little waxy, touch of seashell – vibrant acids on entry, ripe and round feeling with an almost lush quality to the the peach and apricot fruit, even a touch of apricot pit adding a nice bit of tension in the mouth, touch os mineral spice on the finish. Solid – 87pts

Binny's 12/2014. Lovely bottle...accompanied about three mid week dinners and made each one better. Good value.

Sticky caramel and honey aromas with some papaya. Very light wine, not super fruity but with plenty of stone fruit - peach and apricot. Quick finish.

Juicy, lush nose of tropical and stone fruits. White peach, hint of lime, apricot and white flowers. Slightest grassy tone as well. The palate is shockingly unrelated, full of mineral tones. Unexpected given al the lush fruit on the nose. Very salinic and sharp on the palate. Very tight acid. It's inconsistent, so loses points for me. Slightly green asparagus finish.

The wine is a very pale gold color that sparkles a little in the light. On the nose it is sharp and clean with strong aromas of citrus and hints of fresh cut grass. At first taste it has a fantastic abundance of flavors from green grapes, granny smith apples, tropical fruits and cantaloupe. It effervesces a little on the tongue and ends with a fresh tingly finish, which I liked a lot. I do like clean fresh wines and this one is exactly that. A wonderful scrumptiously fun summer wine that pairs perfectly with spicy Mexican food. This is a super fun wine to bring to a summer garden party.

With a clarity in its aromas and flavors, this albariño moves from apples and limes to herbs and spices. The acidity is potent enough to cut through a seafood gratin, carrying notes of melon and peach. A delightful albariño to drink now, this will only improve with time in bottle.

Notes: A contemporary expression of classic Spanish varieties. Crafted from some of the finest grapes in the Rioja DOC, Ergo brings together Tempranillo and Garnacha in a vibrant crescendo of red fruit aromas, leather and spice. The Tempranillo offers sweet dark cherry flavors, while the Garnacha softens the palate and lends nuances of spice and dark berry to the blend. Undertones of vanilla and toasted oak are framed by a juicy texture and a long, smooth finish. - Winery

Next is the winery’s flagship, the 2013 Martín Codax, pure Albariño, a textbook example of the appellation, always a reliable label, which might not be terribly exciting but it’s always very well crafted and clean with varietal aromas of white flowers and fruit. As many of the more commercial Albariños, it has 3.5 grams of unfermented sugar that helps balance the acidity, with very tasty flavors. A good introduction to Rías Baixas to drink young and fresh. 1.8 million bottles produced.

Viticulture Notes The 2013 growing season in Rías Baixas was the second largest in history, producing an abundance of rich, perfumed wines with fresh acidity. Following three very dry years, 2013 brought rain and a cool spring, causing the vintage to start later and enabling a long, slow ripening season that brought the grapes to optimum maturity. The later harvest marked a return to the harvests of 20-30 years ago, and our Albariño from this vintage shows terrific structure and balance. Winemaking Notes The fruit for our 2013 Rías Baixas Albariño was hand-picked, destemmed and pressed in a gentle membrane press to preserve the delicate varietal characteristics of the Albariño grape. We used local, cultured yeasts to initiate fermentation, which occurred in stainless steel tanks for three weeks at a maximum temperature of 64°F. Fifteen percent of the blend underwent malolactic fermentation to enhance the flavor complexity in the wine, with the remainder held back to preserve the naturally crisp acidity of the Albariño grape. The wine rested on light lees for four months with no oak contact. Viticulture Notes:The 2012 growing season began with challenging conditions in Rías Baixas; a cooler and more humid spring gave way to an even cooler summer with unusually high rainfall. Although conditions improved in late summer, yields were low due to the unexpected weather early in the season. Harvest began later, but the lower yields produced grapes of extraordinary quality. As a result, our Albariño from this vintage has shown great structure and balance.
