Marrietta Old Vine Red Lot 56

Member Review by cgplayer9:

This could have been a very good wine with just a little more effort. There was a good core of bramble fruits, hint of raisin and some spices. But woefully lacking in structure. No discernible tannins or oak. I couldn't even tell it had alcohol in it. Yeah, it tasted good, but was not an overall enjoyable "wine experience".

Owner and winemaker Chris Bilbro initially founded Marietta Cellars in 1978 in a rented cow barn in the Dry Creek Valley. The wines of Marietta Cellars are a personification of Chris Bilbro, his outlook on life, and general lifestyle. No wine is complete on its own; pleasurable pursuits such as cooking, fishing, hunting, gardening, and entertaining add balance to wine, as they do to life. To this day, no wine gets bottled without Chris’s approval and no vineyard row goes more than a week without Chris riding his ATV through it. Read less
