Marquis Philips Red Blend Sarah's Blend 2011
This is a beautiful integration of the three varieties. It's a joy to experience and taste the earthy spicy Merlot characters, the leafy berry fruits and firm structure from the Cabernet, and the chocolate and plum Shiraz flavors to finish. This harmony gives you a wine that is balanced, complex and has lots of fruit.
Good buy for a nice smooth red.
Nice color. Chocolate and currants on nose. Round wine, well balanced. Fruit forward with berries, spice, firm tannins, with long finish. Nice for the money 90pts
[Blind Syrah tasting] New world. Aussie? Jammy, light medicinal notes. Corny.
New world Style. Needs to open up a bit. Fruit forward, little light on the finish though does have perceptible tannins. Has class and drinks well on its own or with lighter foods.
Smooth, velvety wine. I agree with previous comments...it's on the berry, fruity side. Pleasant evening glass before bed...it was quite nice by itself. Might not be bold enough for some stronger dishes.

Robert Parker honored Dan Philips as one of his Wine Personalities of the Year in 2006, saying "no one has done more to bring the great treasures of South Australia...to the American public."Marquis Philips Sarah's Blend is a bold blend of 63% Shiraz, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Merlot and Cab Franc. It is deep ruby/purple in color with full body, moderate acidity and soft, ripe tannins. This complex red offers a rich palate of blackberry, black currant, plum, fig, espresso and spice. Aged in French and American oak, it is nicely balanced to enjoy now and over the next 6-7 years. Rich flavors linger on the long, smooth finish.Enjoy Marquis Philips Sarah's Blend with BBQ ribs, steak, burgers, pastas, grilled chicken and cheeses.
Combining power with elegance, the deep ruby/purple-tinged 2003 Sarahrsquo;s Blend, an 8,000-case cuvee of 62% Shiraz, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 19% Merlot, displays a high ldquo;yummyrdquo; factor along with loads of smoky vanilla, licorice, fig, plum, black currant and spice box notes. This juicy, succulent, medium to full-bodied 2003 possesses surprising texture, depth, and length. There is not a hard edge to be found, so it can be enjoyed over the next 2ndash;3 years.
The dense ruby/purple-hued 2004 Sarahrsquo;s Blend is composed of 62% Shiraz and the rest equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It offers abundant black cherry and cassis fruit in its smoky, earthy bouquet along with hints of licorice, dried herbs, and chocolate. Full-bodied, opulent, fruity, and long with surprising complexity as well as depth, it should be drunk over the next 3ndash;4 years.
Medium ruby-red. Bright aromas of raspberry, blackberry, plum, mocha, bitter chocolate and subtle oak spices. Then less sweet and rich in the mouth than the basic shiraz bottling, with slightly dry-edged, herbal flavors. But finishes firm and fairly persistent.
The stunning (probably the best $15 wine I have ever tasted) 2001 Sarahrsquo;s Blend includes 48% Shiraz, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 24% Merlot. It boasts an opaque plum/purple color in addition to a stunningly sweet bouquet of ground pepper, blackberry liqueur, and toasty oak. Surprising nuances, full body, great purity, and opulent, super-concentrated mid-palate and finish, and a seamlessness that must be tasted to be believed emerge from this fresh, well-delineated red. Drink it over the next 3ndash;5 years, although my instincts suggest it will last longer.
