Marquis Philips Red Blend Sarah's Blend 2011
This is a beautiful integration of the three varieties. It's a joy to experience and taste the earthy spicy Merlot characters, the leafy berry fruits and firm structure from the Cabernet, and the chocolate and plum Shiraz flavors to finish. This harmony gives you a wine that is balanced, complex and has lots of fruit.
Good buy for a nice smooth red.
Nice color. Chocolate and currants on nose. Round wine, well balanced. Fruit forward with berries, spice, firm tannins, with long finish. Nice for the money 90pts
[Blind Syrah tasting] New world. Aussie? Jammy, light medicinal notes. Corny.
New world Style. Needs to open up a bit. Fruit forward, little light on the finish though does have perceptible tannins. Has class and drinks well on its own or with lighter foods.
Smooth, velvety wine. I agree with previous comments...it's on the berry, fruity side. Pleasant evening glass before bed...it was quite nice by itself. Might not be bold enough for some stronger dishes.

McLaren Vale, AustraliaMarquis Philips Sarah's Blend has just been released in the 2008 vintage, and this one is once again a winner! Robert Parker calls the 2008 vintage the finest collection of Marquis Philips wines produced since the inception of the label in 2000. Jay Miller for Wine Advocate rated this big red wine gem 91 points, making it an incredible value. Chris Ringland is the winemaker. Don't miss it!Marquis Philips Sarah's Blend is one of the hot new wines from Down Under in the Grateful Palate portfolio, a collaboration among several leading Australian winemakers and American importer Dan Philips. It is deep ruby/purple in color with full body, moderate acidity and soft, ripe tannins. This complex red offers a rich palate of blackberry, black currant, plum, fig, espresso and spice. Aged in French and American oak, it is nicely balanced to enjoy now and over the next 6-7 years. Rich flavors linger on the long, smooth finish.Enjoy Marquis Philips Sarah's Blend with BBQ ribs, steak, burgers, pastas, grilled chicken and cheeses.
The 2006 Sarahrsquo;s Blend is composed of 60% Shiraz, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the balance Merlot and Cabernet Franc. It was barrel-fermented and aged in seasoned French oak for 12 months. Deep crimson-colored, it yields a complex aromatic array of cedar, spice box, clove, pepper, cassis, and blueberry. Full-bodied, fruit-driven, and intensely flavored, this layered blend has a 45-second finish. Drink it over the next 8 years.
One of my favorite Marquis Philips cuveacute;es is the 2005 Sarahrsquo;s Blend, a concoction of 60% Shiraz, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc fermented in wood and aged in both new and one-year-old French and American oak. Its deep ruby/purple hue is accompanied by aromas of flowers, spice box, blueberries, black currants, and smoky oak. Opulent, voluptuous, and full-bodied, with low acidity and sweet tannin, this is a blockbuster red that sells for a song. If you like fruit, flavor, and character, this is a big-time winner to drink over the next 3ndash;4 years.
Super ripe plum jam with dark chocolate richness black currant and briar fruit on the nose. Soft round and gentle with aromas of marzipan complex black currant fruit and hints of peppermint and smoky sweet vanilla. On the palate ripe red berries vibrant soft and round gentle medium bodied structure and black fruit are found. Long integrated tannins and some oak lactone influence also exist. 90 RPThe 2007 Sarahs is a blend of 60% Shiraz 25% Cabernet Sauvignon 10% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc from McLaren Vale vineyards.
Deep red. menthol-tinged cherry and plum aromas, with notes of sweet bay and licorice. Fat, almost oily in texture, with candied dark berry, wild strawberry and cherry jam flavors. The silky, lush finish is weighty, a bit hot and slightly syrupy.
