Marquis Philips Grenache Mclaren Vale 2008
I loved it. I bought 384 bottles, a half pallet, for $400 from Greys on Line. Between me and the people frequenting my dome house we drank it all. I want another one of those half pallets. But I cannot find a drop. Has anyone got some for sale?
Great value-driven burger wine. Lots of polish with sweet fruit and a long finish. If you hate the fruit bombs, you'll despise it. If you like them, this one's a little different...less reliance on the oak, more on the sweetness.
Rich & intense, with dark cherry, blue & black berry, and firm mineral notes. Smoky, vanillin oak comes through on the finish. Well-balanced & perfect for b-b-q. 93pts.
This wine was very good with no decanting. Bought it at a Binny's for $13.99. It was not a dark red but definitely not weak in color. It was relatively dry given the price and grape, but before I get held accountable to that comment I want to try it with something other than burgers. Overall, for the price, I thought it was a very good wine.

According to the Wine Advocate: The 2008 Grenache was sourced from 30 60 year-old, low yielding vines. It was aged for 12 months in predominantly seasoned French and American oak. Medium ruby-colored, it displays an enticing perfume of cedar, earth notes, and cherry. Smooth and seamless on the palate, this is a concentrated, ripe, flavorful, totally pleasurable wine that lacks only complexity. Drink it over the next 4 years.
