This rioja is dark cherry colour with good depth. With balsamic aromas and hints of ripe fruit, complexity and spice, the palate is fresh and light, with soft, rounded tannins. The finish proves persistent with some reminders of toasted oak. Its passage through the mouth is pleasant and elegant, fresh and easy to drink. This wine makes a good pairing with fish, shellfish, ham, pasta, chicken and cold meat.

Very elegant, complex nose, with aromas of black fruit and lots of spice. At Marques de Riscal, balancing respect for the past with the demands of the present and an eye for the future is never an easy task - but it helps if your family has been engaged in it for more than 150 years. There s continuity at Riscal, with constant family ownership, and the current Marques, Paco Hurtado, is in charge of operations, while his son Luis is winemaker.Grapes: 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% MazueloRegion: Spain / Rioja AlavesaMaker: Luis HurtadoNotes: Deep black-cherry colour, almost opaque. Very elegant, complex nose, with aromas of black fruit and lots of spice. It is smooth and round in the mouth, with tannins whch are firm, yet silky and very sweet and which envelop the whole palate. The finish is long, lingering, fresh and balanced with a hint of fine elegant tannins.Serve: At 16-18c with ham, mature cheeses, red meat, all kinds of roast meat and game casseroles.ABV: 14%
