This vineyard bottling is very vintage driven. The cool 2009 harvest has made it ripe and tart in cherry pie flavors, but also rather tannic. It's aloof, revealing little of its soul, beyond the primary fruit and oak. Needs time in the cellar. Could ... Wine Enthusiast. Pale color. Pungent aromas of pineapple, white grapefruit, tarragon and spices. Supple, juicy, dry and suave, with moderately ripe flavors. Narrows slightly toward the back, finishing with a mineral note and a slight harshness.
Plump and juicy with slightly candied red cherry fruit to go along with a touch of licorice on the plush finish. All silky, soft and easy to quaff. An impressive new wine from an impressive old winery.93% Tempranillo, 5% Graciano and 2% Manzuelo from Rioja.
A blend of 85% Verdejo and 15% Viura. Its aroma is intensely floral, similar to violets with a caramel background. Almost colorless, it contains a pale nuance, and is light and fresh on the palate.

Assertive grass and herbal flavors, backed by crisp acidity, knife through the rather unctuous texture in this white, which is thick yet firm. Drink now.

Marqués de Riscal, the oldest Rioja house, has for many years been a leading and pioneering company in the wine producing sector. As far back as 1858, it became the first winery in Rioja to produce wines following the Bordeaux method, and in 1972 it was the first winery to promote the Rueda Designation of Origin, where it produced its famous Marqués de Riscal white wines. Marqués de Riscal sells its products in 80 countries and its wines enjoy the highest international distinctions as well as numerous awards and mentions in the media. In the D.O Rueda area, Marqués de Riscal has 225 hectares of vineyard in which it grows, among other varieties, the indigenous Verdejo vine. A versatile grape with lots of character and personality, it is well suited to the area’s extreme conditions, making it possible to obtain fresh white or cask-fermented white wines. This French Sauvignon Blanc variety, which Marqués de Riscal uses for this varietal wine, originates from the Loire Valley region. It was introduced in Rueda by Marqués de Riscal in 1974 and today the bodega grows 70 hectares in its estate vineyards. Nowadays it is one of the officially permitted varieties of the Denominación de Origen Rueda, thanks to its ability to adapt to the soil and produce white wines with great aromatic intensity, good balance of acidity and hints of minerals. This 'Sauvignon Rueda' shows a pale yellow in colour with hints of green. It has a highly intense, fruity nose, with ripe berries, citrus fruit, pineapple and grapefruit. On the palate it has an underlying mineral presence and a fresh and aromatic sensation in the long, lingering finish. This wine is the perfect match for all kinds of shellfish and pasta. Ideal as an aperitif.
