Perfectly open and huge, with deep plum and black fruit smothering both the bouquet and palate. Over the past couple of years this wine has distinguished itself as a bruiser with charm. And while it may show very little in common with Rhône-style Syrah, for a Chilean version it rocks. Look for huge berry flavors and excellent balancing acids and tannins.
Ripe and pure, with lovely violet, blackberry and plum aromas and flavors that glide along sweet, imbedded tannins. Has a healthy layer of flashy toast, but more than enough fruit for balance. Concha y Toro makes it seem too easy. Drink now through 2008.
Lovely blackberry, boysenberry and blueberry fruit, with ample toast, cocoa and mineral notes. Slightly firm, but has plenty of stuffing to handle it. Rich finish. This winery just keeps cranking out the hits. Drink now through 2006.
The 2005 Syrah "Marques de Casa Concha" was aged for 16 months in French oak. It offers up smoke, leather, game, and blueberry scents which are followed by a supple-textured, ripe, layered wine with abundant spicy flavors. This nicely balanced wine will evolve for 3-5 years and drink well through 2027.
Dark and plush, with espresso, fig paste and plum sauce notes pushed by mocha and dark licorice on the finish. The rich, smoky finish shows fine-grained tannins and the density for moderate cellaring. Drink now through 2009.
Focused, with good dark coffee, black cherry and dark licorice notes followed by a loamy hint. The finish is dark, juicy and driven. Drink now through 2009.
