Marqués de Cáceres Tempranillo Blend Rioja Crianza 2002

Winemaker's Notes:

Dark, ruby red colour. Dense bouquet combining toasted notes, tobacco and a hint of spice. Good structure with nice complexity in the mouth where mature fruit flavors give way to a touch of roasted coffee, chocolate and sweet spice. A wine full of character that reflect its noble origin. A splendid bottle to marry with savoury fish dishes such as fresh tuna in spicy tomato sauce, refined delicatessen products (chorizo, salami), all kinds of beef (roasted, stewed, or grilled), foie gras, duck, partridge, game, and mature cheeses. Serve between: 16-18 degrees C.

Bodegas Marques de Caceres:
The name of this wine. Marques de Caceres was lent by D. Vicente Noguera y Espinosa de los Monteros. Today, he has been succeeded by his son D. Juan Noguera Merle, a worthy representative of the Marquisate which was granted in the XVIII century to his ancestor Juan Ambrosio Garcia de Caceres y Montemayor, a Captain of the Royal Armada for war merits.

Its a go to spanish red...most people will always like this wine and brand, but their are better ones out there. The price for a gran res. is really cheap. VEry rustic and a bit different than most wines from the old world.

Bright red. Complex bouquet of dried strawberry, cherry, rose and cured tobacco. Spicy cherry and red berry flavors are sweetened by a faint vanilla quality and show no rough edges or tannins. Black cherry, tobacco and licorice flavors mingle in this firm red. The tannins are a bit obtrusive, but should balance with food. A solid wine with good typicity.
