Marques de Caceres Rioja White 2013
Our 2012 white wine has a particularly intense character due to a shorter harvest of white grapes compared with previous years. True to its typical straw colour with metallic highlights, the bouquet reveals lively notes of citrus fruit and minerals that come through with intense freshness. Deliciously vibrant in the mouth with a pleasant fullness and a depth of green apples, pears and grapefruit. Good length on the palate where its charming fruit flavours blend nicely with a refreshing acidity.
The name of this wine. Marques de Caceres was lent by D. Vicente Noguera y Espinosa de los Monteros. Today, he has been succeeded by his son D. Juan Noguera Merle, a worthy representative of the Marquisate which was granted in the XVIII century to his ancestor Juan Ambrosio Garcia de Caceres y Montemayor, a Captain of the Royal Armada for war merits.
Editorial Reviews for Marques de Caceres Rioja White
Very fruity on the nose with notes of watermelon, strawberry and raspberry fruit, framed with a hint of cream. Soft and a bit chewy in the mouth, this is a fairly substantial rosé with chewy red fruits that lean toward the wild/black cherry end of the spectrum, flecked with spice and leathery nuances on the back end and through the modest, zesty finish. Plenty of acidity here and a nice hint of tannin helps cleanse the palate. 86pts
Lots of oak on the nose here, sweet, vanilla rich, with slightly heavy damp wood tones and some dirty base notes with some bruised orchard fruit character. A bit lean on entry with noticeable acid and relatively pronounced and somewhat murky tannins in the mouth. There’s some nice fruit here a touch plummy at first with a lot of burnished wood accenting notes. The tannins are dry and fairly unrelenting , keeping the fruit at bay while the finish reveals more wood influenced flavors with a sour cherry underlay. A bit clumsy but well made if you love woody Crianza. A touch raw on the finish 84pts
White Rioja - 12% alcohol, Light Straw color, very bright and fresh, an initial white pepper/basil with pear and green apple. Dry but rather silky with a long finish of lemon and a hint of cedar. Great balanced acidity. Goes very well alone or with food - and at this price point, a steal.
Crisp herbal white wine. Works well with fish.
This is a 2011 Viura from Rioja, Spain. Light yellow straw in color. Fruit hints of pear and grapefruit with a hint of minerality. A mid-finish on the palette and crisp acidity. The time for this wine is now until 2018. Best served chilled to 45 degrees, and served with a seafood paella.
Bright, dark ruby colour. Attractive, intense bouquet of raspberries and cherries with vanilla notes and a touch of spice. Nice, refreshingly ripe fruit in the mouth with delicious tannins that confer good body and complexity. Rich and pleasant on tasting, its smooth texture charms the palate with long-lasting flavours. An elegant wine. -The Winery
crisp acidity, citrus fruits, a little spritz, light and easy drinking
Golden straw bright, fresh aromas of citrus, pear and mineral; palate notes of creamy citrus, crisp white fruits and lanolin riding bright, almost sweet tones across a moderate finish.

Attractive medium coral pink colour. Fresh notes of red berries (raspberries, strawberries) on the nose with a depth of floral and mineral sensations.
Pale straw color with some brilliant highlights. Very fresh bouquet that brings to mind mineral notes, apples and pears with a slightly exotic touch. This intensity on the nose comes through again in the mouth with full fruit flavors and outstanding freshness that lingers on the palate. An ideal wine for a light aperitif and a perfect accompaniment to salads, poached or grilled seafood, prawn cocktail, poached, fried or grilled fish. Also complements sushi and sashimi dishes.
Light gold. Fresh pear and orange on the nose, with quinine and floral nuances and a hint of white pepper. Juicy and a touch warm on the palate, which offers ripe citrus fruit and bitter pear skin flavors. Finishes dry and crisp, with good energy and lingering spiciness.
This is viura fermented in stainless steel, retaining a fresh sting of acidity tightening around flavors of grilled pineapple. The wine has a touch of bitterness that will play well off any roast fish.
This Rioja-based winery’s first effort with Albariño is perfectly good, with aromas of peach and fleshy melon. The palate is tangy and linear in feel, with citrus and green fruit flavors. Turns sharp and citric on the finish.
Cheers to one of Riojaandrsquo;s most basic yet consistent white wines. Minerally and crystalline on the nose, with dusty apple, melon and stony aromas, this Viura is fresh, dry and average in weight. It tastes of papaya and apple, finishing dry and clean.
Crisp and firm, this white offers modest green apple, herb and citrus flavors, but it's more about a bracing breeze of acidity. Drink now.
