Marques de Caceres Rioja Reserva 2005
The name of this wine. Marques de Caceres was lent by D. Vicente Noguera y Espinosa de los Monteros. Today, he has been succeeded by his son D. Juan Noguera Merle, a worthy representative of the Marquisate which was granted in the XVIII century to his ancestor Juan Ambrosio Garcia de Caceres y Montemayor, a Captain of the Royal Armada for war merits.

Deep ruby. Oak-spiced cherry and blackberry on the nose, with complicating notes of licorice, vanilla and dried rose. Sappy and open-knit, with dark berry and cherry-vanilla flavors lifted by tangy acidity. Closes on a spicy note, with an echo of smoky oak. Give this a bit of time for the oak and fruit to harmonize.
Saturated and dark, with prune, dried cheese and leather on the nose. The body is full and offers good tannins to prop up chewy, baked flavors of blackberry, dark plum and chocolate. Very nice, easygoing and ready to drink now.
A silky red, offering fresh fruit flavors of plum and blackberry, with espresso and licorice notes. Firm, bright and balanced, with a perfumed, floral finish. Drink now through 2018.
Founded in the 1960s by Bordeaux's Enrique Forner in collaboration with enologist and author Emile Peynaud, this Rioja-based estate has established a reputation for quality and consistency in a fresh, modern style. With its warm, dry summer, 2005 proved to be a successful vintage for the bodega, yielding the highest rating yet for this reserva bottling, a blend of mostly Tempranillo with 15 percent Garnacha. 10,000 cases imported.
