Marques de Caceres Rioja 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

"Ruby red color, nose of berry, floral with spices. Full, fleshy, and unctuous in the mouth with good balance and smooth tannins." -Winery

Bodegas Marques de Caceres:
The name of this wine. Marques de Caceres was lent by D. Vicente Noguera y Espinosa de los Monteros. Today, he has been succeeded by his son D. Juan Noguera Merle, a worthy representative of the Marquisate which was granted in the XVIII century to his ancestor Juan Ambrosio Garcia de Caceres y Montemayor, a Captain of the Royal Armada for war merits.

Very nice sweet flavoured Spanish wine. Goes well with tapas.

The 2008 Rioja Blanca is crisp, lemony, and lively. The nose is fairly intense and has lots of citrus, particularly lemon, apple, and some tropical notes. My first taste had banana flavor, which was quickly overtaken by that everpresent lemon and some minerality and grassiness. It has very high acidity and a short finish. Love this wine... To me it is a perfect Rioja...heavy on berries and tannins with a hint of oak and absolutely zero sharpness... It also has a raspberry and coffee finish.. Really just gorgeous!

Nice dry white wine. Not not extremely fruity, but good.

Tempranillo grape, with a wide range of aromas detectable wines give it a charm in and of itself, with tasting ranging from strawberries, blackcurrants and cherries, to prunes, chocolate and tobacco

A Tempranillo wine from Rioja in Spain. 2008 Marques de Caceres Rioja Rosado 750ml

External Review

Marques de Caceres Rioja Crianza is wonderful expression of this region, plenty of pretty red fruits and warm nutmeg spice rounded out by notes of sweet cigar and vanilla shortbread.

External Review

This, rich full-bodied wine is made only in excellent vintages from hand-picked Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano grapes grown in Rioja Alta. Aged in French and American oak casks, Marques de Caceras Red Crianza has spicy aromas, berry fruit flavors and a velvety finish. Open preferably one hour before serving with hearty dishes, roasts, grilled meats or tapas.

External Review

Produced from old vines in the finest vintages, Caceres Rioja Reserva is rich and structured, with cherry and fig aromatics, a bright, precise mid-palate, and a very harmonious finish.

External Review

Fragrant with violets and black cherry fruit, this takes time to move beyond its clean lines toward something more emphatically earthy. Air brings a stoniness to the structure, while the wine seems blacker, with the assertive precision of a flamenco dancer’s heel.

External Review

This wine has an attractive, bright ruby red color. With a refined bouquet of black cherries and blackberries with a soft touch of aromatic Mediterranean herbs, this rioja is lusciously fresh and fruity in the mouth where rich fruits of cherries, strawberries, raspberries, and notes of cinnamon mingle to give a pleasant fullness with a backbone of silky-smooth tannins. With a long-lasting, unctuous finish, the rioja is a splendid vintage that is velvety soft and elegant. 85% Tempranillo, and 15% Garnacha Tinta and Graciano.
