Something of a "tart" nose. On the palate this is a medium-bodied wine that does't seem to have much oomph. Not a lot of fruit or other flavors that would give it much substance. There is some bitter hints around the edge of the tongue, and, confirming the nose, some tartness. If this was a white wine, I'd probably be a happy camper. It is not a bad wine, but, for a red, it has no "juice." US$26.99 at Total Wine in 2011. [Amendment 12/15/13--On day 2 after half of the bottle of this wine has been sitting overnight, I am quite pleased with the change. It seems to be a better integrated. Bitterness that bothered me, yesterday, has diminished to nothing. This is now a very pleasant wine. Much closer to what I expect for a Gran Reserva.]

This bright ruby wine is 85% Tempranillo and 15% Garnacha Tinta and Graciano. The nose features wild strawberry and Morello cherry scents, with subtle vanilla oak notes. The fleshy palate offers full flavors of berry and cherry, with smooth tannins and great acidity. Recommended to pair with Mediterranean dishes, fried food, grilled vegetables, beef, or cheeses.
