Marotti Campi Luzano 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Tasting Notes Luzano is the fruit of a rare and valuable combination of tradition and modern technology which maximizes its attractiveness. It is characterized by a bright, straw yellow color with green reflections and by a bouquet with aromas of acacia and wild flowers. It is dry, full-bodied, full-flavored and fresh with a long finish. This wine should be served chilled and is best accompanied by appetizers, pasta and rice dishes, fish, white meats. It can also be served as an aperitif.

I'd never had an Italian white like this before - and was very surprised at the sweetness of this Verdicchio. It reminded me of a Riesling with a bit higher acidity at the finish (acidity is one of the common features of this varietal). The opening notes were of pear and apple, followed by a dryer, more acidic finish that left sweetness in your mouth. I'd recommend it for sweet white lovers, rather than those more accustomed to dry, buttery Chardonnays.
