Mark West Pinot Noir Appellation California 2010

Member Review by JustSayin:

Very nice Pinot for the money. Nice nose that doesn't give away too much, however there's no question that this is a Pinot Noir. The palate is subtle, and while slightly un - wielding ... evenutially give up it's notes. the Back-end is classic Pinot Noir...allowing you to savor the mid and back flavors.Light tannins, which don't overpower the overall taste. This would be my house Pinot if not for the price...for this range though...definately #1 (So far). Suffers ony because I bought 2 Le Crema 2010 today...which I can't wait to open...patience young one (alright, I'm not so young)...

I first had this pinot noir at a family-owned Italian restaurant, along with some delicious chicken. I chose it blindly; I had never heard the name but wanted something dry, so that's what I went with. It was great and complimented the meal very well. I later bought a bottle and nursed it over a few weeks, and it never disappointed. Quite dry, quite lovely, and definitely worth the money.

This is some very cheap wine, I wouldn't sniff it, nor would I expect anything other than what it entails... Pinot Noir, thank you. But I think I've tasted, in my experience, something that adds to my palate. This wine left me wanting a true wine, something that isn't boxed. I knew it was a pinot, but wanted to pin it on a gamay. Although I've had some very good gamays (check out Chateau des Labourons; 'Fleurie') This wine left me wanting something, anything.

This is my go to for a cheap pinot noir. Reliable, not fussy, dry, and inexpensive.
