Elegant and intense red fruits with flavors that offer essence of pinot and the acidity is a little edgier here than in the first two wines. The flavors are quite elegant and there is plenty of pinot sap with excellent length and balance. If the wine's definition improves with age, my score will prove conservative.

The news here is that Philippe Delarche acquired another .7 ha of Corton-Renardes in 2000 to bring his total holdings in Renardes to 1.60 ha. Philippe reports his yields in 99 as around 45 hl/ha and professes to be extremely pleased with the overall quality in both red and white. The 99s were bottled in November of 2000 and tasted in February.
