Marietta Cellars is located just outside the little town of Geyserville in one of California’s premier wine growing regions, Sonoma County. Owner and winemaker Chris Bilbro initially founded Marietta Cellars in 1978 in a rented cow barn in the Dry Creek Valley. The wines of Marietta Cellars are a personification of Chris Bilbro, his outlook on life, and general lifestyle. No wine is complete on its own; pleasurable pursuits such as cooking, fishing, hunting, gardening, and entertaining add balance to wine, as they do to life. To this day, no wine gets bottled without Chris’s approval and no vineyard row goes more than a week without Chris riding his ATV through it. Read less

I bought this bottle and a bottle of the 05 Chard on a whim from my mother. Although not as intense in acidity or citrus flavor as my favorite New Zealand wines, it has a greater flavor and balance than the typical California SB. I find most California SBs to be extremely light and washed out, like cheap Pinot Grigio. It was not overly acidic or overbearing with any particular flavor. Nothing jumps out at you either, it is just a nice, balanced light white for a warm summer day. While not as great a value as the NZ SBs, this was a good bottle at $12.99, better if you can get it for less.
