It's a big wine alright. But too big for my taste. I had this with a good steak and it over-powered it. It reminds me of Ben Hogan. Big, strong, intimidating but he's also highly immobile, slow, and full of steroids.
Deep blue & black berry notes, pepper & vanilla spice; very lush & palate saturating. 93pts.
Dark, almost black, and delicious. A tame petit sirah, round, smooth, big not harsh, features dry rich ripe berries and cherries in the mouth with a patina of frosted cookie, cinnamon, and pepper. Aroma of vanilla, floral, spice, and a slight burnt odor. Medium body. Finishes over four seconds or so with sweet dry red fruit plus a bit of leather and oil.
Undecanted from a preservation machine. Once again wonderful, round, velvety, lovely, strong sour deep rich berry fruit (blueberries, blackberry, perhaps other) with a hint of volatiles and some "brushland". Very nicely balanced and well-integrated. Nose featured sour fruit and meaty notes and "wet metal". Finishes similar to taste. Having forgotten my eval of this wine in March, I again gave it a 91, without decanting this time. Drink now.
This is what I thought wine would taste like as a kid. Lush, cartoonishly-fruity, with a dark punchy sweetness that still can't hide the wallop of alcohol. I'm not sure if it's the 16 year old zima drinker inside me, but I really love this wine.
fake fruit. for petite sirah, not the best example. but still solid.

The nose is dark and deep with black and blue berries, black cherries, dark chocolate, minerals, earth, and mild wood and cellar notes. The mouth feel is dense. There are layers of blackberries and blueberries, and then brighter tones of concentrated cherry with a little spice. The mid-palate and finish are very full, rich, and round yet the finish is so balanced with firm tannins and acidity that the wine manages to stay light on its feet.
Petite Sirah is often the most underrated varietal in California, but all you have to do is look at the tasting notes of people who've opened 15 and 20-year-old examples, which are usually super-enthusiastic. A classic anti-oxidative style of wine, t... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. A Petite Sirah wine from California in USA. 2007 Marietta Petite Sirah 750ml
Almost opaque in color, the 2006 Petite Sirah exhibits a broad, rich nose of blueberries, sweet toasty oak, and mineral notes. It is abundantly lush, mouth-filling, and weighty on the palate. Typical of the vintage, it exhibits broad, fruit-forward flavors with pleasing fruit tannins.
