Saturated dark-ruby hue, Ultraripe fruit-forward aromas. A juicy entry leads a moderately full-bodied palate of jammy ripe-fruit flavors, with supple, silky tannins lingering on the finish. Low acids give a thick mouthfeel. Drink now.
This is a big wine. The aromas are still tight, yet they show broad hints of complexity including ripe cherry, cassis, graphite, and a pleasant herbal and earthy component. The palate is very full and structured, and well integrated oak carries the wine to a long finish. Our goal is to make lush and rich yet very classic Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2007 seems to have achieved this in stride. While hard to resist drinking now, the thick but moderate fruit tannin promise a very easy 10 years of aging potential.
The dense ruby/purple-tinged 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals classic aromas of creme de cassis, licorice, earth, and spice box in addition to chewy, rich, concentrated flavors, moderate, sweet tannin, and a long, heady finish. If past renditions are any indication, this spicy, hardy Cabernet Sauvignon should age effortlessly for 15 or more years.

The 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals a moderately intense, simple, oaky, blackberry, and currant-scented nose. In the mouth, the wine is structured, spicy, and tannic. There is good ripeness and purity, but the tannin gives the wine a compressed feel, and accentuate the astringency. While this wine will last for a decade, its overall balance is suspect.
The most underrated wine in the Marietta portfolio is either their Cabernet Sauvignon or the Petite Sirah. The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon displays classic black currant liqueur with some background oak and spice. Dense ruby/purple, it has more grip, structure and tannin than the Zinfandel, but about the same level of concentration. Pure, fresh and full, with at least 10-12 years of aging potential, this wine is a beauty and a sleeper of the vintage.
