2005 Margerum Syrah Alondra De Los Prados Vineyard120 six packs producedDeep ruby red fruit - currant, cranberry, raspberry are condensed into a focused core of pulsating fruit, vibrant and alive, spiked with a dash nose-tickling spice with a hint of floral. Elegantly lifted and weighted with substance. Tom Krig keeps his small, one acre vineyard on Meadowlark Lane manicured with the precision of a master bonsai gardener and the fruit is beautiful. It is always the first Syrah to get picked every year and comes in accompanied by a bit of Viognier with which it is co-planted - and then co-fermented for the extra aromatic note. The wine is aged 20 months in all new 3 year air dried Allier forest oak barrels produced by a high quality cooperage in the village of St. Romain, France.
