Margerum Sweeet Lh Sauvignon Blanc 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

2005 Margerum "Sweeet" Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc, Santa Ynez Valley (375ml), 120 six packs produced My good friend Steve Beckmen offered to share his crop of 80% vine clipped, air dried in the vineyard, late harvest Purisima Mountain Sauvignon Blanc. We picked it on a cold day in late December, brought it to the winery, de-stemmed, foot crushed, cold soaked and fermented for a couple of months in my little 300 liter stainless steel tank before finishing fermenting (another three months) in a one year old high quality French oak barrel and keep in the very cold room in the back of the winery. The must was off the charts literally as my hydrometer maxes out at 42 degrees brix and the brix was way above that. With some alchemy and some spiritual guidance I was able to bottle an impressive over-the-top wine that has all who taste it go to one knee and blessed be Bacchus, god of wine that wine is in our lives.

Margerum Wine Company:
We are a small producer of Syrah, a Rhone style blend called M5, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, and a few other varietals. Our grapes are purchased from the finest growers in Santa Barbara County. In addition, we are beginning to import a few exceptional wines we have found in our travels to the wine regions of Italy and France.
