Margaux Brio de Cantenac Brown

Winemaker's Notes:

Brio is Ch. Cantenac Browns second wine. All plots are meticulously observed throughout the growth cycle from budding to the analysis of grape ripeness. The batches that will go into Brio are chosen largely as a result of these observations, not as a way of strengthening the first wine, but in order to make the second wine as wonderful as possible! Vintage: 2004 Grapes: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc. Soil : Gravelly soil. Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested with 100% destemming. Maceration is for 15-20 days. Fermentation is carried out in thermo regulated stainless steel vats for 15 days at 29-30°C. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels and vats. The wine is then aged in oak barrels (50% new, 50% year old) for 15-18 months with racking every 3 months. Fining is by egg whites. Colour: Ruby red. Taste: This, the second wine of Château Cantenac Brown, shows all the elegant hallmarks of its parent. This wine shows ripe fruit with a good depth and a hint of chocolate. Silky tannins and a firm, rich finish. Serve: At room temperature with roast meats.
