Marco Porello Camestri Roero Arneis Camestri DOC 2008

External Review by Premium Wine & Spirits:

Arneis, in Italian means "little rascal," and is thus named because it is so difficult to grow. When done properly, however, this finicky grape lends itself to vibrant, full-flavored aromatic white wines that are outstanding alternatives for Viognier drinkers. The Marco Porello is loaded with crisp apple, white plum and honeysuckle notes, and drinks beautifully with prosciutto and melon, beef carpaccio or herbed pastas.

Grown on the steep slopes of Vezza d'Alba, this arneis is rainwater-fresh, with scents of litchi and raw almond. It's clean and gentle, a white to chill for pan-roasted trout.
