Food Pairings for Marchesi di Gresy Barbera d'Asti
Marchesi di Gresy is an 88 acre winery made up of four estates situated in the Langhe and Monferrto. In the late 1960's, owner Alberto di Gresy decided that he no longer wanted to continue selling his families grapes to other producers, so in 1973, he began producing his own wine. The Marchesi di Gresy winery is superbly positioned in the prestigious Martinenga cru in Barbaresco, one of the most famous vineyards in the zone. This Barbera d'Asti has a bright red hue with intense violet reflections, followed by a fully aromatic nose of red fruits and cherries. Velvety on the palate, this wine is well endowed with spice and chocolate notes. This is a very elegant wine, powerful, warm and with perfect balance leading to a long finish with great personality. This is an ideal wine for starters or with red meats and rich sauces. Alternatively, it is an excellent accompaniment to slightly aged cheeses.
