Marchesi di Barolo Barbera Barbera del Monferrato Maràia 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Spectator Review Rated 89 This has an impressive nose of tar, blackberry and black licorice. Full-bodied and very ripe, almost raisiny, but long and powerful, with loads of fruit and refined structure. Drink now. Wine Tasting Notes Deep ruby red. Charming, with hints of woodland berries and appealing vanilla overtones. Lively, Full-bodied and well-rounded. This wine makes a delightful accompaniment to roast and most red meats. Serve at a moderate room temperature.

Still young and a little acidic, even after breathing for more than an hour. Drinkable, just not the best.

Very nice latent fruit (red currant & dark cherry); pairs very well with autumn squash and grilled salmon.
