Offers plummy fruit, with hints of flowers, citrus and light chocolate. Medium-bodied, with a balanced and tasty palate, fine tannins and a clean finish. Structured. Best after 2009.

Lots of character here with rich aromas and flavors of ripe fruit and coffee cream... and a medium, spicy vanilla finish. Always very good.

Winemaker's Notes:

The Castle Nipozzano was constructed around the year 1000 as a defensive stronghold after reconstructing around the 1400's the villas cellars became the center of local wine production. Today the Castle houses the central wine cellars, where the production take place. The property is found in the heart of the Chianti Rufina, stretching across of 550 hectares at an altitude of 300 to 450 meters. 160 hectares cultivate the vines of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah. The land consists mainly of clay and limestone, with little organic substance, and the climate is dry and windy, ideal conditions to produce great harmonic wines, full-bodied, with a structure particularly adapted for long aging. The Chianti Rufina Riserva DOCG has a full aroma with hints of cherry, strawberry, plum and dried flowers. The palate is powerful with sweet, evolved tannins, harmonious and elegant.
