High toned and herbal at first then adding cassis, leather and a touch of mushroom. Turns a bit fruitier with a plum/blackberry character and a minty top note but this also seems to be a bit bretty. Very smooth and polished in the mouth and the austere tannins really pile up. It's minty and vanilla toned on the finish with more of those tough tannins. There is a core of currant fruit and this feels packed with fruit as well but the wine simply has too much tannin. I don't know when to drink this, sooner with a rich, fatty steak would be my advise since I can't see the fruit outlasting the tannins. 86pts
