Marcassin is the wine produced by celebrated California cult winemaker Helen Turley and her husband, John Wetlaufer on the Sonoma Coast in California. The name, meaning “wild boar” is also the name of the 20-acre vineyard where the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes for her wines are grown. Two-thirds of the winery’s production is Pinot Noir. Production is limited to 2,500 to 3,000 cases a year, with the majority of the bottles sold only to exclusive mailing list members (there is an extensive wait list to receive them). The wines typically start at around $125 a bottle to the mailing list and sell for many more times that at auction. Until 2011, the wine itself was produced at Turley’s Martinelli winery in the Russian River Valley, but are now produced solely at Marcassin.  Read less

Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

Good full red. Smoky, wild aromas of raspberry, game and underbrush. Fat, sweet and round, with a fine-grained texture and a rich smoky character. This boasts excellent density. Finishes very long, with a light dusting of sweet tannins. 94 points Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Pinot Noir wine from California in USA. 2003 Marcassin Pinot Noir Three Sisters Vineyard 750ml

The 2003 Pinot Noir Three Sisters Vineyard shows sweet blueberry, raspberry, cherry, smoky, gamy, and autumnal/forest vegetation-like notes. With superb fruit, full body, admirable richness and acidity, and a fleshy, long mouthfeel, this stunning Pinot is just becoming approachable and drinkable. It should last for 10-15 years.
