Marc Mondavi's the Divining Rod Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley 2014

External Review by We Speak Wine:

Winemaking Notes: We utilized new and used French oak, in both medium and medium-plus toast, to provide the proper framework for our Cabernet Sauvignon. Our winemaking philosophy is to use a gentle hand and let the quality of the vineyards shine through. As such, our oak aging provides subtle, toasty notes while the ripeness and vibrancy of the fruit take center stage. Learning from the lessons perfected in Bordeaux, we included some Petit Verdot and Malbec into the blend to add balance and softness. Tasting Notes: Our 2014 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon delivers rich, concentrated black fruit avors with depth and character. A bouquet of black cherry, blackberry, sandalwood and plum aromas are layered with subtle notes of toasted French oak. Light avors of cocoa and cola complement the opulent fruit avors. A rich mouthfeel, texture and weight from medium-toasted French oak enhance our Cabernet which nishes with layers of complexity. Blend: 98% Cabernet Sauvignon 1% Petit Verdot 1% Malbec Alcohol: 13.6% pH: 3.53 TA: 0.69g/100ml RS: 0.07g/100ml
