With 3 microclimates through the vineyard, the grapes that come off this ranch are very special, both in hard work and achieving the high quality within the vineyard. This wine is Explosive! The concentration on this wine is so rich that it is hard to believe how well the wine is in balance with fruit, oak, alcohol and acid. I must tell you after months of tasting this wine in barrel, I kept shaking my head and saying, how could this wine be better than my fabulous 2002 vintage, but it's much better and will read more...

Mara Zinfandel Reserve Dolinsek Ranch 2005 - 12/09/10

This wine has so much Jam...the only thing missing is some peanut butter on the edge of the glass. Deep, dark and incredibly smooth. This is a wine that when I share it with friends (albeit only a select few), they immediately ask me where can they get this wine. It really is that fantastic.

Mara Zinfandel Reserve Dolinsek Ranch 2004 - 10/07/09

The vines from this Old Vine Russian River Valley vineyard are maintained with the emphasis of low yields and intense fruit. If you have had the past vintages of this MARA wine then you know the wines have been packed with flavors.The color is dense purple with the aromas of black raspberry black cherry and chocolate. The wine is full bodied with lots of glycerin. As stated this wine is packed with all the flavor profiles that this Old Vine Russian River Valley vineyard hands out. The taste has a touch of vanilla cedar and chocolate with a very nice back flavor of black licorice. A well structured wine that will benefit by a year or so in the bottle but drinks extremely well right now. This ranch is right in the heart of the Russian River Valley and at harvest time goes through 3 microclimates to get all the intense flavors that I am looking for. As always a very small amount of cases are produced from an average of less than 1/2 ton per acre. Hand crafted cases are 386.
