Ruby-red. Slightly high-toned, idiosyncratic aromas of maraschino cherry, leather, violet and orange zest. Rich, chewy and long of personality; rather wild flavors of cherry, licorice, tobacco, meat and leather. Finishes with big but sweet tannins.
Another prodigious effort, Manzone's inky black-colored 1999 Dolcetto d'Alba offers phenomenally intense crème de cassis aromas and flavors. amazing concentration, an unctuous texture, and a huge, ripe, fabulous finish. While it will not develop a great deal of complexity, it is a mouth-saturating, gorgeously pure , ripe, hedonistic Dolcetto. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.
Easygoing yet refined Dolcetto with fresh plum and floral character. Medium-bodied and balanced with a fruity finish. No rough edges here. Drink now.
