Manus Dei Sixtine Chateauneuf du Pape 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

"Very dark purplish crimson. Good energy and depth here. Not enormous concentration but at least some distinction. Racy and satisfying though with some greenness. Drink from 2016 to 2026. - JR" - 16.5 out of 20 Points, Jancis Robinson's Purple Pages. Wine: "This wine is a deep crimson colour. From the initial nose, the aromas are intense, offering unrivalled finesse and purity and explosions of crisp red berries, such as strawberries and cherries. A first impression of subtlety, slightly closed but delicately full-bodied. Soft and delicious on the palate, elegant, long and velvety, the wine is powerful and structured, with unrivalled persistence on the finish." - Winery Vinification/Maturing: "Traditional grapes hand-picked and sorted de-stalked - long vatting time in temperature-regulated stainless steel tanks - Fermentation between 26-28 degrees with regular pumping-over. Wine not fined, filtered on Kieselguhr (calcined diatomaceous earth). 60% aged in large oak barrels, 40% in old barrels for 12 months." - Winery Weather Conditions: "There was some good rainfall during the autumn to fill up the water table followed by a cold winter with consecutive nights of frost in January and February. Then came a rainy spring, while summer 2010, was very dry, with the lowest rainfall since 1871! What a record. However, there were some cool nights, particularly in August, which delayed the harvest period until late September 2010. This led to an excellent anthocyanin and polyphenol synthesis." - Winery This wine was also rated 88 Points by the International Wine Cellar.
