Mandolina Malvasia Bianca Santa Barbara County 2008

External Review:

This varietal, uncommon to California, is a native of Tuscany and Umbria where it is normally fermented to produce light sweet wine. We have a mere two acres planted in our Los Alamos vineyard. aromatic and complex, Malvasia Bianca is a special example of the grape species Vitis vinifera made into a truly exceptional wine. fresh white flowers like gardenia, summer fruits including apricot and peach are anchored with a hint of amber incense. Made in an off-dry style, the slight sweetness and intense perfume quality of this wine makes for exquisite flavors to pair with a wide range of cuisine.

Originally planted from cuttings brought from Italy's legendary vineyards, Lucas & Lewellen's Italian varietal vineyards of Mandolina thrive in the Los Alamos Valley, where warm summer days and cool coastal nights provide the perfect growing environment.
