Man Vintners Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Not much going on on the nose, this is reticent though shows hints of a gently leafy green character. The mouth feel is quite attractive; lightly round but cut with fine, bright yet covered acidity, soft orchard fruit and sweet lime flavors. It’s not complex but it is refreshing, and it finishes with more depth of flavor than the palate leads one to believe. Fresh and easy to drink with a nice light bite on the finish. 85pts

MAN Vintners:
This MAN thing began with three friends and an idea: to make a wine that we ourselves would love to buy. Good quality, excellent value, and cool packaging. Not exactly an epiphany, but enough to motivate us to action. What do we call it? Keeping peace in the family, we took the initials of our wives. (We each have one, that is.) So that is how we explained to Marie, Anette, and Nicky that we were going to be "busy" most weekends. It's for you! we told them. Could've slapped on something cute and furry but the world doesn't need another critter label. We are trying to do something different. It's the WINES we're excited about! Bold and gutsy, reflecting our extreme terroir. Grape growing in the Perdeberg Hills is not for wimps. There is little rainfall, so you have to be in tune with your vineyards. Too much crop or too much stress and you end up with grapes that can't ripen, or worse. But this is grape growing heaven for generations of our farmers. There are no fat, lazy bloated grapes here.
