Man Vintners Chenin Blanc 2008
The grapes for this super Chenin Blanc were sourced from various vineyards in the Agter-Paarl region. These are mostly un-irrigated, older (15 years+), bush-vine (un-trellised) vineyards with low yields of 6.5 tons/ha. The wine is filled with tropical fruit, guava and melon aromas, crisp and bold sweet citrus backed by refreshing acidity and minerality characteristic of the coastal vineyards. This is a versatile food wine to go with most poultry, fish and salad dishes. Also fabulous as an aperitif for a hot summer afternoon. Serve chilled.

2008 Man Vintners Chenin Blanc (Steen) Coastal South Africa (13.5%) – Color: Outside, hard to tell, Nose: a little melon, honeysuckle, Taste: high acidity, light tannins, decent finish Lamarr: A- (crisp acidity, very refreshing, though inexperienced in whites, this is very good) Hector: A- (crisper and more refreshing than our whites of yesteryear) Alastor: B (not a fan of white wines, very uninteresting to me)

I really enjoyed this crisp white. Potential for great summer wine if I can find it again in my area. Originally bought it randomly at World Market and haven't been able to find anywhere but online since then. Such a shame, I think we paid $7 something!

This wine has a unique delicious tangy character that goes well with a lot of food and makes for an excellent aperitif. In South Africa we say "moreish"; it is an excellent third date wine. It has lively aromas of tropical fruits and melon, with crisp, bold citrus and tropical fruit flavours. Serve chilled Sourced from various vineyards in the Agter-Paarl region. Mostly un-irrigated, older (15 years+), bush-vine (un-trellised) vineyards with low yields of 6,5 tons/ha. Only free-run juice used in producing this wine. After settling the must was inoculated and allowed to ferment over 20 days in stainless steel tanks at an average fermentation temperature of 13° centigrade. The wine was left on its lees until bottling for richer mouth-feel.
