Man Vintners Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

A bold and juicy red wine with red-berry fruit aromas and a touch of oak spice. Classic cabernet cassis and red-currant fruit flavours with silky tannins and long finish. Should go nicely with a wide range of foods, particularly red meats and pasta. Serve at a cool room temperature.

MAN Vintners:
This MAN thing began with three friends and an idea: to make a wine that we ourselves would love to buy. Good quality, excellent value, and cool packaging. Not exactly an epiphany, but enough to motivate us to action. What do we call it? Keeping peace in the family, we took the initials of our wives. (We each have one, that is.) Not exactly an epiphany, but enough to motivate us to action. What do we call it? Keeping peace in the family, we took the initials of our wives. (We each have one, that is.) So that is how we explained to Marie, Anette, and Nicky that we were going to be "busy" most weekends. It's for you! we told them. Could've slapped on something cute and furry but the world doesn't need another critter label. We are trying to do something different. It's the WINES we're excited about! Bold and gutsy, reflecting our extreme terroir. Grape growing in the Perdeberg Hills is not for wimps. There is little rainfall, so you have to be in tune with your vineyards. Too much crop or too much stress and you end up with grapes that can't ripen, or worse. But this is grape growing heaven for generations of our farmers. There are no fat, lazy bloated grapes here. Bright ruby-red. Crushed blackberry, blueberry, licorice and smoky oak on the nose, with a whiff of flowers. Supple, broad and easy to drink, with an enticing dark berry sweetness nicely buffered by lively herb and flint notes. Finishes with rather soft tannins and lingering notes of redcurrant and plum.

Bright plum and berry aromas are backed by cedar and smoke in this elegant Cabernet. Tobacco and spicy pepper balance juicy fruit flavors to create an appealing, New World style red. Pair with bigger dishesmdash;think steak, grilled lamb, stews.

Soft aromas of spice, plum, vanilla and tobacco start this appealing Cabernet from MAN. On the palate, integrated, elegant flavors of cedar, plum and warming spice are backed by a balanced acidity. The finish is fruity with a touch of cinnamon. Pair with beef, cheese.

Nice red-berry dominate the nose and palate, with aromas of menthol mixing in, and flavors of tobacco emerging with time. Smooth and simple, this wine finishes a bit warm.

Ripe fig and currant jam notes are backed by dark cocoa and licorice hints. A bit obvious, but will have some fans for its friendly, toasty persona. Drink now.
