Patrice Rion calls 2001 a classic vintage yielding wines that are très pinot. We had reasonable yields of 35 to 38 hl/ha with good sugars and anything that achieved 12.8% or better wasn't chaptalized (Rion said that among the Domaine wines, only the Chambolle Les Cras was chaptalized) and the Maison wines were all chaptalized less than one-half degree. Acidities were a bit higher than average but by no means high, which resulted in long malos and the wines should age very well. There will be three separate bottlings: one that has already been done, another in December and the third for the read more...
