Maison Leroy Bourgogne 1999
"An expressive and nicely complex nose that is now beginning to turn to secondary with earth and subtle spice nuances that complement rich, round and sweet flavors that offer good punch and while this will be capable of additional aging, it is essentially ready now despite the still moderately firm finishing tannins." Burghound 4/06.
This is a well-developed example of what Burgundy's Pinot Noir can do. It is well-balanced, more acidic upon first blush, with a long, mellow finish. Spicy, dried fruits mix with subtle mineral notes for an elegant aroma that blends well with a medium-bodied, yet full-flavored palate. An excellent value at $35 for a well-aged red wine.
